The Real Reason You Keep Starting Over (It’s Not What You Think!)

The Real Issue

Every single Monday I ran into the SAME problem.

I’d open a document and rewrite my long, massive to-do list. I’d stare at it for 10 minutes trying to decide what to work on first, and hope that this would be the week where everything finally clicked.

But in reality, that’s never how it went. By Friday, I only crossed a few of the easier tasks, and everything else got pushed to the next week. Then I would start the cycle all over again.

Having a lack of clarity in my business not only affected my productivity, but it also affected my consistency. Too many things were out of place. I constantly fell behind in my work because I grossly underestimated the amount of time certain tasks would take. And because I didn’t apply that knowledge week after week or try to improve it, I constantly felt scattered and behind. I felt like the worst business owner.

After a while, I realized that I couldn’t be perfect because I’m not a robot. I couldn’t just expect things to go perfectly, because REAL life happens. But I didn’t ever want that to stop me. I still wanted to make progress.

My heart was in the right place, but my systems were ALL OVER the place.

The Truth Was, I did not have the right support.

Looking back, I can say that laziness and lack of ambition was never the root of the problem. I definitely had my “off” days like everyone does, but what I was truly missing was support. I did not have the right systems or daily rhythms to help with planning.

Because of this, my priorities were completely out of order. I tackled the “easy” tasks first, and never made it to the work that actually moved my business forward. Then I’d wonder why I felt like I was constantly losing it. Eventually, I reached the point where I was completely exhausted and realized something desperately had to change. I could no longer keep repeating the same cycle every single week and expect a different result.

The heart behind the Restore & Reclaim Blueprint

This is exactly why I created the Restore & Reclaim Blueprint— because I NEEDED it.

I was so tired of starting over every Monday. Tired of feeling behind before the week even begun. Tired of keeping one giant, overwhelming to-do list that never seemed to get any smaller.

So I began to analyze the cracks in my own systems. I asked myself the hard questions. Why wasn’t my planning working? Why did I keep getting stuck? How could I create a system that would support me even during the busy seasons, instead of depending on motivation alone? I knew deep down, that there had to be a better way to manage my time each week.

It took nearly two years of trial and error, but eventually I landed on a weekly planning system that finally clicked. Instead of trying to tackle every task at once and getting them half done, I learned how to break my workload into smaller, more manageable steps. Every week I spend roughly 15 minutes preparing, and that small investment has completely changed the way I approach in my business!

At first, I was distraught because the work felt too simple. I wondered if focusing on just a few core tasks each day would actually MAKE a difference. I thought it was just too good to be true.

But then, over the next few weeks I noticed something: Not only was I beginning to cross off those extraneous tasks on my big list, but I was also building REAL consistency in my work.

What I Learned

Looking back, I realized something important that completely changed the way I approached my business:

Systems are support- they don’t “save” you.

This is such an important distinction to make. They will not replace all the work you need to do. No planner, course, system or blueprint will magically fix your life overnight. It takes weeks, or even a few months to get into a groove that works for you.

Systems are designed to make all that work feel more manageable by giving you the structure and support you need to keep moving forward.

The biggest benefit of having strong systems was clarity. Instead of staring at one giant to-do list every morning wondering where to begin, I had a clear plan. My scattered thoughts finally had a place to go, and that alone made my weeks feel SO much calmer.

I also learned that structure helps carry you when your emotions fluctuate. You are NOT always going to feel motivated to show up, especially when business feels hard and progress seems painfully slow. I had to stop relying on motivation and started building daily rhythms that kept me grounded instead.

One of my most important daily rhythms is spending time in my Bible and prayer BEFORE I check my phone or open my laptop. When I started making this a priority I noticed a huge difference in the way I showed up each day. This sacred time reminds me that God is the ultimate source of my strength. On the mornings that I skip this I become much more anxious, distracted, and I begin to rely on my OWN strength instead of His.

I also discovered that consistency is built through preparation. Every week, I take 10-15 minutes to set myself up for success. Along with weekly meal planning and getting the house ready for the week, I also organize all of my work tasks with my Restore and Reclaim Blueprint. It doesn’t take much time, but it does drastically improve the flow of my week.

When I prepare ahead of time, my week flows SO much more smoothly. When I don’t, things begin to crumble pretty quickly. That small investment of time saves me from countless unnecessary decisions later on, which is so important because running a business already requires me to make so many decisions each day!

Most importantly, I stopped trying to be a perfectionist. (Believe me, this was hard to break from!) With time, I realized that the goal was never to become someone who “has it all together”. It’s about building rhythms that helps you keep showing up when life feels heavy, messy, and overwhelming. You can’t let your mood determine whether you work on your business or not, because your emotions always change.

Systems and structures have given me something reliable to fall back on. They’ve helped my life flow more smoothly, reduce decision fatigue, and keep me moving forward, even during some of the busiest seasons of my life!

The absolute hardest part about building a business is becoming the person who can grow it. That’s why having the right tools, systems and daily rhythms matter SO much. They won’t do the work for you, but they will support you as you become that person.
